This copy originally owned by a McVeagh, a surgeon in the Royal Navy, who left his ownership signature on the title page. It was later owned by and bears the bookplate of Edward Delos Churchill, an American surgeon known for his work in thoracic surgery, was Theatre Commander of Surgery for the Mediterranean during World War II, was President of the American Surgical Association just after the war, and later served as Chief of Surgical Services at Massachusetts General. After his retirement in 1962, Churchill developed an interest in the history of wound management. Duodecimo, calf & boards (hardcover), 160 pp. Fold-out plate. Original boards are well-worn; spine was at some point detached and re-attached with glue.
