Cadoret, Roland A. The Battle of Grounded Eagles. Published by the Author, 1970. First Edition. Signed & Inscribed by the Author, with a handwritten & signed note from the author laid-in. Related newspaper article written by author pasted to endpaper. Near-Fine, with rubbing to spine. From Author's Introduction: The Battle of Grounded Eagles tells the true, if not glamorous, story of what happened to those hundreds of gallant air warriors who were shot down during the fierce struggle for Air Supremacy over Europe during World War II. It is the author's actual experience. It begins with the Briefing in England for the author's 15th Mission: Le Bourget Airfield, France. Then, the vain attempt, after receiving a direct hit over the target, to fly the crippled B-17 Bomber back to England is followed by a description of the capture by the Germans, and subsequent treatment. P.O.W. evacuation from Sagan, Germany to Moosburg, Bavaria, leads to eventual liberation by our own troops, then slightly unauthorized visits to Munich and Le Havre. Finally, the journey by ship back to the U.S.A. and home! Price:
