Lighthouse Books, ABAA is a family-owned and operated book shop now located in Dade City, Florida. We moved in October and November 2019 from our longtime home in St. Petersburg. Our specialties include Florida history and literature, Americana, literature of the South, Caribbean history, military history (including, but not limited to, Civil War, Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, Vietnam, Korean War), children’s literature, antique maps, leather bindings and rare & unusual items.
We also have a wide variety of general stock, including a large landscape/gardening section, a great selection of Christian/church history/Bible study titles, Beat literature, aviation, maritime, Asian history, history of the South Pacific, African history, European history, British history, Latin American history, Canadian history, archaeology, psychology, philosophy, discovery & exploration, art, antiques & collectibles' reference, pop-up books, railroads, hunting & fishing, fire arms, illustrated, etc.
About 10 per cent of our total stock is listed in our online inventory. If ever you're in the area, we invite you to come in and browse. For every $20 you spend on in-store purchases, we offer a Lighthouse Dollar to be used as cash during your next visit.
The proprietor, Michael F. Slicker, is one of about 450 qualified members of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America, Inc., and its affiliate the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers. He was also the founding president of the the Florida Antiquarian Booksellers Association and is still an active member. He has served as chairman of the Florida Antiquarian Book Fair since its inception in 1982.
Sarah, Mike's daughter, serves as manager for The Florida Antiquarian Book Fair. It is the oldest and largest antiquarian book fair in the southeastern United States and one of the largest in the country. The Fair is presented at The Coliseum, a beautifully restored 1920s ballroom and concert venue, in downtown St. Petersburg. In 2023, the book fair will be presented March 10th through the 12th. You can find us in Alcove No. 3.
