3 Drum, Karl; General der Flieger a. D. Airpower and Russian Partisan Warfare. United States Air Force Historical Studies, No. 177. Edited by Dr. Littleton B. Atkinson of the USAF Historical Division of Research Studies Institute, Air University, United States Air Force; Brig. Gen. Noel F. Parrish, USAF, Director, Research Studies Institute; Dr. Albert F. Simpson, Air Force Historian. With an Introduction by Telford Taylor.
New York: Arno Press, 1962. USAF Historical Division, Research Studies Institute, Air University, March 1962.
Quarto, black cloth (hardcover), xii + 63 pp. Neat former-owner (pilot) bookplate; otherwise, Fine, in a Fine, mylar protected dust jacket. From Introduction to the Series: The publication of this series of official historical studies is at once a most significant contribution to our knowledge of the Second World War and a landmark in the development of commercial publishing. So much is published nowadays -- far beyond the capacity of any individual even to screen -- and so much is printed that ought never to see the light of day, that one tends to forget the considerable amount of writing well worth reading which rarely or never gets published at all. These volumes are an excellent example. Military monographs by foreign officers whose names are unknown to the public are not attractive items to most commercial publishing houses. But sometimes, as in the present case, they are unique sources of information which should be available in public if not in private libraries. Less often, and again as in the caseof these volumes, they are surprisingly well written, and in many parts fascinating to the general reader as well as to the historian or military specialist... *The large size and heavy weight of this volume will require additional postal fees for overseas or Priority orders.

4 Fedden, Sir Roy; M.B.E., D.Sc., Hon. F.R.Ae.S., Hon. F.I.A.S. Britain's Air Survival. An Appraisement and Strategy for Success. With an Introduction by Edward Lanchbery.
London: Cassell & Company Ltd., 1957. First Edition.
Signed & inscribed by the author. With a typed, signed letter by the author. Octavo, blue boards (hardcover), gilt letters, xxiv, 151 pp. Near-Fine, with bookplate and light foxing to page edges; in a Very Good dust jacket in protective mylar wrapper with edgewear that includes light chipping. From dust jacket: This is a book to shock the public into a militant crusade. Britain's leading aeronautical expert writes in the belief that public awareness of the dangerous failure of the British aircraft industry to keep abreast of post-war development will force a radical reorganisation of aircraft planning and production. Sir Roy Fedden's strictures on post-war policies and methods of production in this country are accepted by leaders of the industry; lip service has long been paid to the truth of his arguments. But nothing has been done to stop the disastrous decline in British air superiority. Britain still lacks enough skilled manpower to carry out the development of all the products of our inventive genius; neither the Government nor the industry has produced adequate leadership to bring to fruition the brillance of our technologists; a chronic lack of modern research and testing equipment impedes the development of advanced supersonic research. Sir Roy Fedden has been one the leading men of the aircraft industry since the First World War. In Britain's Air Survival he sets out the causes of Britain's faiure and the policies that must be followed to retreieve the situation. He outlines a programme for the next ten years, and the policies and methods that must be used to make that programme possible. He appeals for more scope for technical education in line with the facilities in this field in the U.S.A. and U.S.S.R. He calls for an independent commission in line with the Finletter Commission which, in 1947-8, set the U.S. aircraft industry on the road to pre-eminence. If Britain is to survive as a major air power reorganisation must begin now. This book explains why it is vitally necessary and how Britain's prestige can be saved. It calls for action now; it is up to an informed public to press for that action.

7 Maxwell, Lewis S., B.S.A.; Golby, Eric V., F.R.H.S.; Will, Albert A., Jr., B.L.A., M.S.; Krezdorn, Dr. A. H., M.S., Ph. D. Florida Fruit: Fresh Fruit for the Home, How to Choose and Grow Them. Photography by Lewis S. Maxwell.
Tampa, Florida: Lewis S. Maxwell, (1995).
Octavo, paperbound (color illus., stapled, blue wrappers), 119 pp. Near Fine. From Preface: For many years, the authors of this book have been fascinated by the many delicious fruit that grow well in Florida. Hoewver, information regarding the growing and care of Florida fruit in the home grounds was not readily available. This book has been written to fill this need. The fruit included in this book are pleasant to eat as fresh fruit, will grow well in Florida, and are available from at least some nurseries. This book contains a picture and descriptive page on most of the fruit. There are also special articles to help you in such matters as the choosing, planting, caring for, and picking of these fruit. The article on the fertilization and care of citurs may be used as a guide for other fruit. Since the flavors of these fruit vary greatly, it would be best to taste test the mbefore planting any in your yard. Another thing that you should be aware of is that the fruit from seedlings vary to the extent that some are good to eat while others from the same speicies are worthless. Because of this, you should buy young plants that have been layered, grafted, or budded from plants producing superior fruit. Other reasons for buying these types of plants are that they make better shaped plants and they produce fruit in from one half to one third of the time required by seedlings. Other factors involved in choosing fruit for your home grounds include hardiness to cold, salt tolerance, soil coinditions, and size of the mature plant. A plant's mature size may vary in different areas of the State. Also, its cold hardiness may vary depending on its age, health, variety, location, number of hours at or below freezing, the weather prior to freezing temperatures, etc.

Quarto, black cloth (hardcover), xxvi + 416 pp. Neat former-owner (pilot) bookplate; otherwise, Fine, in a Fine, mylar protected dust jacket. From Foreword: [This] is one of a series of historical studies written by, or based on information supplied by, former key officers of the German Air Force for the United States Air Force Historical Division. The overall purpose of the series is threefold: 1) To provide the United States Air Force with a comprehensive and, insofar as possible, authoritative history of a major air force which suffered defeat in World War II; 2) To probide a history of that air force as prepared by many of its principal and responsible leaders; 3) To provide a firsthand account of that air force's unique combat in a major war with the forces of the Soviet Union. This series of studeis therefore covers in large part virtually all phases of the Luftwaffe's operations and organization, from its camoflaged origin in the Reichswehr, during the period of secret German rearmament following World War I, through its participation in the Spanish Civil War and its massive operations and final defeat in World War II. *The large size and heavy weight of this volume will require additional postal fees for overseas or Priority orders.

19 Lukins, A. H. and edited by D. A. Russell, M.I.Mech. E. The Book of Miles Aircraft. Compiled by A. H. Lukins and edited by D. A. Russell, M.I.Mech. E.
Leicester: The Harborough Publishing Company Limited, n.d.
Quarto, blue boards (hardcover), gilt letters, illustrated, 88 pp. Very Good, in a Good, mylar protected dust jacket. From Foreword: Miles and I first met at that quaint and dangerous little aerodrome at Shoreham-by-Sea, under the dignified shadow of Lancing College, where he and a sportsman named Bellairs, and Cecil Pashley, one of our earliest and best pilots, were running the Southern Aircraft Co. Ltd. There he had learned to fly, and had built a highly aerobatic single-seat biplane, which he called the Martlet. Also he had built a sort of control-tower at one end of the hut, which was the Club House -- I am sure the Club House could have held as many as a dozen members, as well as the bar... This book tells of what the Miles family have designed and built up to the date of publication. Whatever may come after we may be sure that it will show enterprise, foresight, intelligence and originally worthy of those amusing early activities at Shoreham.
