From Introduction: Prince of Wales Museum of Western India started functioning only in 1921 though it was established by an Act of Bombay Government in 1909. The nucleus of the collection of the ARchaeological Section was formed by the sculptures and coins made over by the Boona Branch of Archaeological Survey and sculptures loaned by the Bombay Branch of the Royyal Asiatic Scoity...The Art Section owes its existence to the munificence of the House of the Tataas. Its nucleus was, however formed in 1915 with the acquisition of Purshottam Vishram Mawji Collection consisting of Indian paintings, textiles, weapons and miscellaneous antiqueities....
