Octavo, brown boards (hardcover), gilt letters, xii + 246 pp. Near-Fine, with former-owner inscription; in a Very Good dust jacket with light edgewear. From Preface: The current year being the 100th anniversary of the demise of Sontoku Ninomiya, in order to honour his memory various functions have been held or are going to be held in Japan. Moreover, among many foreigners visiting this country in recent years there are not a few persons who are interested in the study of the development of our villages and agricultural industry. It is in consideration of these facts that it was arranged to publish this book. The original of this book is Sage Nimomiya's Evening Talks publihsed in 1937 by the Tokuno Kyokai, an association of persons interested in agricultural industry. For the reason that the present volume has had a short life of the Sage by Mr. Kanzo Uchimura added to the original, it has been divided into two parts, namely, Part I: Life and Part II: Talks.
